Women for Women International![]() Group Jazz is proud to be a partner of Women for Women International in the Global Voices program. Through this program, we are connected to a community with immediate and urgent needs. In regular, communal workshops, women receive income-generating training to build on and strengthen their existing skills, as well as master new trades. They take courses in business management and entrepreneurship to build confidence and job readiness. In addition, the women participate in workshops guided by A Women's World, a manual developed by Women for Women International, to raise awareness about women's rights. The manual faciitates discussions about each woman's role in war, politics, the economy, the family and health care. The Microcredit Program provides much needed capital to start and grown women-owned businesses. Investing in small business is the key to building a community dependent on its own production rather than direct aid. Group Jazz has been connected to a community in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) which has suffered through 7 years of fighting - the economy has been decimated and the infrastructure has been destroyed. More than 2 million people are internally displaced. 16 million people are suffering from a critical shortage of food, and thousands have already died from a lack of food, clean water, medicine and shelter. Women have been victims of war, murder, torture and mutilation, forced migration, starvation, rape and sexual violence. Girls as young as five and women as old as eighty have been subjected to rape and other forms of sexual violence. Women for Women International is working to begin providing multi-tiered services of direct aid, emotional support, rights awareness and leadership education, vocational skills training and income generation support. Now that you know, you can't act like you didn't know. If you'd like to help contact: Women for Women International
